new to PvP monk...
Im a great monk when it comes to anywhere in PvE, but im just lost in PvP....so here is my build i would like you to comment on for PvP...mostly AB
Protection Prayers 15, Healing Prayers 9, Divine Favor 12
[skill]blessed light[/skill] [skill]gift of health[/skill] [skill]protective spirit[/skill] [skill]shield of absorption[/skill] [skill]shielding hands[/skill] [skill]dismiss condition[/skill] [skill]guardian[/skill] and optional.....
For AB i would use [skill]reversal of fortune[/skill] and for anything else, either res signet or some kind of hard res. The main problem i seem to have is energy management, but im not sure what to do about that.

dont.ever.ever.ever.ever.rez.as.a.monk.in.pvp.
if you're using Blight, you need higher Divine Favour.
there's a good thread with many monk tips, it's gonna take you a while to read through it but will help A LOT.
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10104060 <- thread.

I would replace shielding hands with reversal of fortune as it is yout staple gun in protection prayers or even shield of absorption.
Shame on you Mokone for not pointing this out.

I wouldn't worry about AB's; it's not really the best idea to play Monk anyway, because a good defense in AB is a good offense.
In general, make sure you have plenty of weapon sets; -5 energy set, default +5 martial weapon/offhand set, +15/-1 set, +30/-2 set. Play a PvP toon, because acquiring lots of shields and offhands in PvE can be time consuming and costly, and who wants to PvE, anyway? :P
Never use Superior Runes either.

You seriously do not need to go 660hp. >585hp for a monk is good enough. Unless you are going to play infuser monk.

Spear is better. You can spear at your free time.
Since you have 15 in prot, i assume that you are running major? Monks in pvp should not use major or even superior. The -35/-75 isn't worth the +1 point.
You could check http://www.teamquitter.com/phpBB2/ forum. There are several extensive how to monk well and equipments guides there.

your posted started good and turned rather bad there.
have you ever heard of recharge and fast cast sets? 40/40 sets for casting only are extremely helpful, you switch from your normal set to that and back once you stop casting.
your second bar is pretty awful, your first bar is okay, could still be better though.
rest of those weapons look ok thought, you could generally use a crippling mod if you end up using return.
also, you'll need shields of all sorts (30 -5 20% is pretty bad on a monk) - fire, lightning and icy stuff is rather important, so are slashing, piercing and blunt, while ebon stuff isn't needed that badly on shields, but just in case! some bars also allow you to run Soldier's Defence, and if you have a nice shield req, you can even get the fulll 16 AL out of it!
and for arenas, you will also want a shield with -20% dazed duration.

lol forgive me. i thought it would be obvious to use rof for the free spot after pointing out not to use a res.

I'd actually say his second bar is more useful than the first, mainly in RA. The first bar seems rather awkward with CoP in there...but it might just be me.
Also, if you want to learn about PvP monking, start out in RA and quickly move to TA afterwards. AB is not exactly the place to be learning, as you end up running around most of the time and either fighting a small amount of enemies that is easy to heal through (1-2 stranded people) or a huge mob where you're hopeless no matter how good you are (say, 7v4 when they also have a mm).

I really prefer some evasion when I'm pvp monking.
Wether that's shield bash or return, especially in RA and AB you won't regret having that.
The more HP the better, but have a 20/20+30+30 staff while casting doesnt hurt at all, just get adept at switching. I personally don't mind +1 runes. You know, Prot Spirit gets really ineffective if you have 660 HP.

fast recharge on Soa, Shielding hands, or ZB under great pressure can be very helpful. the fast cast only helps with ZB or Soa, but still worth using. FC also helps on Mtouch if dazed.
also, it's horrible trust me, anyone running frenzied defense+prot spirit = bad.
basically, you want Spirit Bond, and not Prot Spirit, and you do not want Frenzied Defense, because your stance should be for dazed removal only, so you only need a few seconds (shield stace thingy, natural stride, etc) and not something with such a great downside (rend touch -> wildblow, shatter enchant, any enchant removal + eles etc etc), plus Frenzied makes you waste energy so fast.
